Alpha 2

20th January 2041

The second crewed landing of a spacecraft on the surface of Mars took place today as Hab Alpha 2 touched down. This second lander carried six further astronauts who will join the permanent team at Alpha Base.

The Mission Commander is Heinrich Bachmeier an experienced European astronaut. He is joined by five mission specialists: Andreas Flintoff from Australia, Larissa Moriera from Brazil, Esha Shetty from India, Gregor Davydenko from the Ukraine and Emily Song-Patel from the United Kingdom.

As with Alpha 1, this crew represents a mix of skills and national backgrounds. This will also be the first time that Indian and Chinese astronauts will have worked together since the end of hostilities between their two nations. The coming together of the two crews is therefore an important symbol of peace back on earth.
