Alpha 4

6th February 2042

The fourth crewed Hab module arrived today with a further ten crew members, taking the total population of Mars to thirty-one. The rate of arrival is set to increase this year as the number of crewed modules begins to equal the number of supply Habs.

This Hab also carried the first two 'commercial' team members: Anton Dubois from Blaise Pascal University, and Deifilia Garcia from Universidad San Jorge. This marks the beginning of a scheme which allows for institutions to sponsor particular individuals to come to Mars as team members. These individuals will split their time between their work on the base and their work for their home institution. The MCA has introduced this scheme as a way of sharing costs and as a way of increasing the direct involvement of companies and academic institutions.
