Martian Glass

15th January 2042

The team in Alpha 2 announced a major step forward today. The group working in the Stephenson workshops have managed to produce a transparent material that they have nick-named 'Martian glass'. The material is not actually a 'glass' as such, but a complex polymer produced using local materials. It is both strong and flexible and can be formed in a range of different shapes. The team have also shown that it can be made in a radiation resistant form, and blended with other material to make it self-repairing - a feature that is extremely valuable in the Martian environment.

The team hope to build a larger unit which will fabricate wide strips of greenhouse coverings for future development.
