As the astronauts on Hab module Alpha 1 prepare for arrival, we review the current state of Alpha Base.
There are currently four Hab modules on the ground. Plus an Emergency Return Vehicle which could return the crew to Earth if neccesary. Three are loaded with equpiment and supplies while a fourth contains life support systems and generators which will be essential for the long term sustainability of the base.

Two of the Hab modules have already been linked together using automated rovers. This year was necessary before the arrival of astronauts, cosmonauts and tychonauts.
The remaining modules will need to be moved together so that a permanent base can be established. This will be one of the key tasks facing the six astronauts when they arrive.
